Sewing With Jersey Workshop
Regular price £95.00Sewing with jersey can feel intimidating—but it doesn’t have to be! This workshop is designed to take the fear out of stretch fabrics by giving you the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on experience needed to sew beautiful jersey garments. With two different patterns to choose from, you can select the project that best suits your current sewing level. It also makes this workshop ideal for attending with a friend, even if you're at different stages in your sewing journey.
You can choose from two fantastic Tilly and the Buttons patterns:
Pattern Options
• Coco Dress
A perfect introduction to jersey sewing. Ideal for those who are comfortable with woven patterns but want to learn the tricks of sewing stretch fabrics. A simple, stylish and versatile pattern that builds confidence.
• Billie Sweater
A cosy, modern jumper pattern. In this class, you’ll make the jumper version with simple sleeves (not the gathered sleeve option). You’ll learn jersey techniques as well as how to attach ribbing for a clean, professional finish.
If you’re unsure which pattern is right for you, simply chat with us when booking—we’re happy to guide you.
Your day will begin with a discussion of your chosen pattern, how to measure yourself correctly, and how to select the right size. From there, you’ll trace your pattern, pin it to your fabric, transfer markings, and cut your pieces. After a short 30-minute lunch break, you’ll move on to sewing, where you’ll be guided through the specific construction steps for your garment—whether that involves facings, pockets, cuffs, ribbing, or sleeves.

Testimonial
“I attended the Jersey workshop yesterday (Christmas present from my son and his partner) and I came away walking on air. I’ve been sewing all my life but had recently lost confidence due to a lot of failures. I learned so much from Angela, our fabulously knowledgeable tutor, who taught us how to adjust a pattern for made-to-measure and how to handle and respect different types of fabrics. I ended up with the tunic dress in the photograph using the Tilly and the Buttons Coco pattern. I was pushed for time at the end so it could do with an iron, but I am absolutely delighted with the outcome and will certainly be on the lookout for other courses run by Make!”
