Sewing with jersey can feel intimidating—but it doesn’t have to be! This workshop is designed to take the fear out of stretch fabrics by giving you the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on experience needed to sew beautiful jersey garments.

With three different patterns to choose from, you can select the project that best suits your style and sewing experience. It also makes this workshop ideal for attending with a friend, even if you're at different stages in your sewing journey.

Pattern Options

Billie Sweater – Tilly and the Buttons - designed for people who have never sewn with jersey before.

A cosy, modern jumper pattern that's ideal for everyday wear. In this class, you'll make the jumper version with simple sleeves (not the gathered sleeve option), learning jersey sewing techniques as well as how to attach ribbing for a clean, professional finish.

Page Hoodie – Chalk and Notch - for that next step in jersey sewing.

A modern cropped hooded sweatshirt that's perfect for anyone looking to build their confidence sewing with jersey. Choose between a classic banded hem or a drawstring hem, and personalise your hoodie with one of three interchangeable sleeve styles. You'll learn techniques for sewing knit fabrics, attaching a hood, and achieving a professional finish with bands or drawstring casings. This can be made longer if you would prefer a longer hoodie.

Men's Rebel Raglan - Wardrobe by Me - drafted for a looser fit.

Men's Rebel Raglan sewing pattern from Wardrobe by Me. The Rebel Raglan is a classic sweatshirt with a crew neckline, front triangle detail, raglan sleeves and ribbed trim. The pattern also includes the option to add a hood and front kangaroo pocket to make a hoodie.

If you're unsure which pattern is right for you, simply chat with us when booking—we're happy to help you choose.

What to Expect

Your day will begin with a discussion of your chosen pattern, how to measure yourself correctly, and how to select the right size. From there, you'll trace your pattern, pin it to your fabric, transfer markings, and cut out your pieces.

After a 30-minute lunch break, you'll move on to construction, where you'll be guided through each stage of sewing your chosen garment. Depending on your pattern, you'll learn techniques such as attaching a hood, sewing ribbing, inserting sleeves, adding cuffs, creating drawstring casings, and achieving neat, professional finishes throughout.

Testimonial

"I attended the Jersey Workshop yesterday (a Christmas present from my son and his partner) and came away walking on air. I've been sewing all my life but had recently lost confidence after a number of failed projects. Angela, our fabulously knowledgeable tutor, taught us how to adjust a pattern for a made-to-measure fit and how to handle and respect different types of fabrics. I learned so much and left with a finished garment I was delighted with. I'll certainly be looking out for more courses run by Make!"

Testimonials

Thank you so much for my necklace and earrings. My sons were quite bemused that a vendor knew me by name and your personal touch made us all feel good. So much nicer than the faceless Amazon or even the posh mens clothing stores that I frequented (virtually) over Christmas.

I love the necklace and earrings - you were right they do match and I will share your site with friends

Myself and my daughter came in to choose a pattern to get us back into sewing again. Lizzy was so helpful, talking us through all of the patterns she has and what fabrics would suit the pattern and our skill level. We are so exicited to get started and thats thanks to Lizzy's patience and help in the shop. We can't wait to come on one of your workshops.
