Quilted Fabric Sewing - The Hovea Jacket

Join us for this two day class learning all the skills and tricks on sewing with quilted fabric using the Hovea jacket pattern to make a fabulous finished jacket/coat 

Hovea is a loose fit drop shoulder jacket & coat. Pattern features multiple lengths; deep angled feature pockets; unlined, full lining or quilted options; and belt or tie closures. 

View A is a mid length unlined jacket with collar band. View B is a mid length quilted jacket with binding. View C is a lined coat with collar band and belt. View D is a quilted coat with binding. View E is an unlined cropped jacket with collar band. View F is a quilted cropped jacket with binding. 

For our two days we will be asking you to bring pre-quilted fabric with you, either fabric you have bought (there are some gorgeous ones out there) or something you have quilted yourself already.  

You will be working with your teacher to choose the correct size for yourself using both your measurements and finished garment. With this measurement you will cut out your fabric in the correct size.  

There are a few tricks with working with quilted fabric and how the jacket is finished is key, we won’t be sewing the lined version in this workshop so we will be showing you different techniques on how to finish your jacket inside so it looks fabulous inside and out.

We have allowed two days for this garment to allow for a relaxed sew and finish, we hope in the time given you will be able to finish but if you aren’t able to we will make sure you know what to do to finish at home.

Working with bias binding or attaching a band

What you will need:

A sewing machine – if you need to use one of ours please let us know when you book

A basic sewing kit – scissors, pins tape measure etc – we do have a supply of these if you need to use ours.

Your chosen fabric – a full list of the fabric amount will be emailed once you booked

Level:

Advanced beginner – you need to know how to use a sewing machine and have sewna few garments before

Please note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish each garment in the allocated time but this isn’t always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time we will make sure you are confident with your garment to be finished at home.
