Sew A Sauvie Sundress Workshop

The Sauvie Sundress is the perfect strappy summer dress to reach for when you are wanting comfort, ease and style in those hot summer months. It's also perfect for layering over a t-shirt as a pinafore when the temperatures drop. Sauvie can be anything from a swim cover-up to a casual summer dress to an elegant evening gown depending on your fabric choice. 

Join us for the day to sew this gorgeous dress together with the help from our amazing trained sewing teachers.

 Please note we will only have time to sew the simple straight short or longer version of this dress, if you want to add the elastic or added tier you won't finish the garment in the day. 

Choose a lovely linen for the more structured look and for those who are starting their sewing journey. For those who are further along in their sewing go for a soft drapey viscose which will make the ultimate summer dress.

We will ask you to trace or cut out your pattern before the class in your chosen size and bring it with you. We hope to finish the garment in the class but it isn’t always possible so we will make sure you are happy how to finish the garment at home after the class.

What you will learn:

Depending what fabric you choose-

·      Working with a drapey fabric

·      How to cut out a drapey fabric

·      Sewing darts

·      Sewing slits in the dress

·      Inserting pockets

What you will need:

A sewing machine – if you need to use one of ours please let us know when you book

A basic sewing kit – scissors, pins tape measure etc – we do have a supply of these if you need to use ours.

Your chosen fabric – a full list of the fabric amount will be emailed once you booked

The pattern will be sent to you 2 weeks before the class so you can either trace or cut out your size. We can help with the best size for you in the shop if you need it.

Next stage beginner – you must have sewn at least one garment before.
